On March 23, 2022, National Development and Reform Committee (commonly known as NDRC: one of the central institutions of the country that decides the economic and social development strategies of China) announced medium and long-term plan for the development of hydrogen energy. We have summarized the details of the long-term plan (2021-2035) and implement our analysis. The long-awaited medium- to long-term development plan by the national leadership has finally become clear. This plan positions hydrogen energy as the core element of future energy systems, and aim to achieve the stabilization of power supply infrastructure through large-scale and long-term energy storage by hydrogen along with the dissemination of renewable energy. In addition, the plan states that hydrogen, as an important energy carrier to decarbonize end-use sectors, will be widely adopted in various application in the transportation field including the ship and aviation fields, and the industrial fields such as metallurgy hydrogen reduction and chemical manufacturing.
